Frequently Asked Questions

Why join Scouting, Scouts BSA Troop 105/Cub Scout Pack 105?

Since 1936 Troop/Pack 105 has been helping Hartford youth grow to their full potential in developing academic skills, self confidence, ethics, leadership skills and citizenship skills that greatly influence their adult lives.

When and where do we meet?

Our weekly meetings are on Thursday nights from 6:30pm to 7:30pm for Cubs & 6:30pm to 8pm for Scouts at The Hartford BPO Elks Lodge, 34 Prospect St, Hartford, CT 06103.

What is expected from youth members?

Youth members are expected to have good attendance for meetings and activities, arrive a few minutes early and stay the duration of the meeting or activity.  We understand that circumstances happen but a good attendance makes for the best youth experience.

What kind of activities do we do?

The Cub Scout program activities are centered around earning badges through camping, hiking, community service projects, parades, sports and building projects like Pinewood Derby cars.

The Scouts BSA program activities include regular camping trips, volunteering in the community, parades, building friendships, cooking, nature, first aid, fire building and safety, swimming, boating, knots and lashing and much more.

How much does it cost?

Regular one year registration per child is $160 OR $60 with Husky Insurance Card.  Weekend camping trips are typically $20 which pays for food.  Full uniforms are estimated at $150.  The cost of activities, parties, awards and badges are paid by the troop/pack and money is raised through fundraisers and grants.

What are ages ranges for Scouting?

Cub Scouts are for boys and girls 5-11 and Scouts BSA are for youth ages 11-17.

Can adults/parents join/volunteer?

Yes, adults and parents can join and volunteer as long as they complete the Youth Protection Training online course and commit to a duty and/or task that helps the program.  This scouting program is run with 100% volunteer participation who have an interest in being a part of a great youth group program.  Without volunteers there would be no program.
